Zero-emission energy

Electromagnetic activation of energy carriers. We support the development of fuel-activation methods — coal, gas and hydrogen — for savings and a positive impact on the environment, including reducing CO₂ emissions.

Interdisciplinary approach

From the outset, the project required the cooperation of specialists from different fields. Their roles complemented one another:

Physicists

Understanding the effect of electromagnetic fields at the atomic and molecular level: the impact on the energy states of electrons and the possibility of lowering the activation energy of combustion reactions.

Chemists

Analysis of changes in the chemical structure of fuels after activation, identification of reaction products and ecological benefits — including the reduction of harmful emissions.

Electronics engineers

Development of advanced systems generating precise electromagnetic fields with the required parameters, and optimisation of the devices for efficiency and safety.

Project history

From theoretical foundations at the Warsaw University of Technology to readiness for testing under industrial conditions.

  1. 2016

    Theoretical foundations and first steps

    Fundamental work begins within the HO'X Innovation Space. A team led by Prof. Bronisław Pura (joined by PhD student Rafał Ciołek) studies the physical and chemical mechanisms of fuel activation.

  2. 2017

    First activations and prototypes

    The first activator prototypes are built and tested at the Warsaw University of Technology. Initial coal-activation experiments show promising results — a possible increase in the fuel's energy value.

  3. 2018

    Laboratory research on steam coal

    Studies of the prototypes' effectiveness indicate a significant increase in coal's energy value and a reduction of harmful gas emissions during combustion.

  4. 2019

    Research on natural gas

    Staff of the Institute of Heat Engineering (ITC) at WUT carry out experiments with activators on natural gas, confirming the potential to improve gas combustion efficiency.

  5. 2020

    Securing funding

    Research successes attract investors. The funding makes it possible to scale up the work, refine the prototypes and prepare for tests under industrial conditions.

  6. 2023-2026

    Ready for tests at the Bełchatów Power Station

    Full technical, legal and organisational readiness is achieved. The Bełchatów Power Station — the largest lignite-fired power plant in Europe — signs an agreement to demonstrate the solution on coal-fired unit no. 7.

We are looking for partners to continue

Despite funding being suspended in 2023, the team of scientists and engineers has not given up on further work. We are seeking new opportunities and partners ready to develop the fuel-activation method.
